QUESTION – TAG

Question tag adalah suatu pertanyaan di ekor kalimat yang fungsinya mengukuhkan atau menanyakan pendapat seseorang.
Pola : aux + (not) + S ..?
Jika kalimat utamanya dalam bentuk positif, maka Question tag-nya negatif.

Your mother works in the kitchen, doesn’t she ?
The children didn’t speak English, did they ?
Anton won’t come today, will he ?
Hal-hal yang perlu diperhatikan !
1. Subject untuk Question tag harus kata ganti orang sebagai subject dan there.
Jadi hanya ada 8, yaitu : I, you, he, she, it, we, they, dan there.
Semua kata benda harus diubah ke dalam bentuk pronoun ini.
2. auxiliary + not harus disingkat
Contoh : won’t they

myan’t they

3. Question-tag untuk : I am adalah “Aren’t I”
Contoh : I am your teacher, aren’t I ?
: I am standing there, aren’t I ?
tapi : I am not Anton, am I ?
4. Question-tag untuk let’s adalah “shall we ?”
Contoh : Let’s help our parents, shall we ?
Let’s enjoy the food, shall we ?
5. Kata-kata : never, seldom, rarely, hardly, nothing, nobody, none, neither, dianggap negatif, jadi question-tagnya positif.
Contoh : Andi’s mother never gives me a smile, does she ?
Those rulers are seldom used, are they ?
Nobody will understand, will they ?
None of the money is mine, isn’t it ?

6. Kata-kata : nothing, something, everything, anything, dianggap tunggal, jadi subject penggantinya “it”.
Contoh : Everything needs attention, doesn’t it ?
Something bad happened yesterday, didn’t it ?
7. Kata-kata : no one, some one, nobody, everybody, everyone, anyone, dst dianggap plural, jadi subject penggantinya : “they”.
Contoh Someone has left the purse there, haven’t they ?
Nobody likes those animals, do they ?
8. Untuk kalimat perintah dan larangan, question-tagnya adalah :
Modals + (not) + you
Come here, will you ?
Don’t believe him, can you ?
Please come in, would you ?
Give me some money, can’t you ?
